Resources
Below are a selection of resources to help you on your crypto journey. Do not worry if at first listen or read of the information you do not understand much of it, with a small amount of time investment things start to fall into place as you become more familiar with the concepts.

BOOK

An easy read which lays out in an easy to understand way how the crypto protocols work and discusses the difference between the 'casino' vs 'the computer' aspects of the ecosystem.
READ. WRITE. OWN. Chris Dixon.

podcasts

A few of my favourites:
1. Web3 masterclass - everything you wanted to know about Web3 but were too embarrassed to ask
2. Acquired the history of Bitcoin and the history of Ethereum. Not for the faint of heart as these are long, although you can skip the last third as they do an analysis of whoever they've profiled.
3. RealVision founder Raoul Pal is my go to for understanding the macro trends around investing and crypto.
Recommend these two but there are many more:
Understanding Solana & meme coins
articles

Again, AI chat tools can be useful once you know the questions you wish to ask, but a few articles to read here and newsletters to consider subscribing to.
What happens when all the Bitcoins are mined?
What is the Bitcoin halving?
How does Ethereum work?
Ethereum as a deflationary asset explained

groups to join

There is no shortage of communities to join. Most of them live on Discord or Telegram and a lot of them are very male centric. Many will be all about hype and short trading which is a risky strategy until you have time to invest in understanding the market.

Crypto women of NZ/AU : For great weekly crypto updates from Louise.

Rooftop: Our focus is learning together for financial benefit, not just thru investing but understanding all the emerging tech opportunities.

Real Vision: Free to join investing community. Huge amount of resources and paid options. This is Raoul Pal's community.
If you join any Discord groups, turn off your DMs (you can find it in settings/privacy) as some groups ‘spam’ members to get them to sign up to their latest airdrop or scam.
If you are thinking of paying for any service feel free to reach out to me beforehand to give you any insight on whether they are worth the investment.
exchanges

Exchanges are where you purchase your crypto.
Custodial exchanges : You purchase your crypto and the exchange 'custodies' your money for you. This feels the most similar to traditional banking.
NB: If you think you will start with custodial and then switch, keep in mind it will cost you to switch between wallets.
Non-custodial exchanges: Exchanges buy crypto and send it directly to your wallet. You are resonsible for ensuring you give the correct wallet address. NB You will have different addresses for different blockchains even if they all sit within the one 'wallet'.
Easycrypto is a AU/NZ exchange which also has a wallet now
wallets

Rainbow Wallet - A great Ethereum based wallet with a layer of inbuilt security.
Exodus allows for multiple chains such as Blockchain, Solana and Ethereum based coins and you can set up different portfolio's within the app.
Metamask is commonly used for Ethereum and the Layer 2s which are built on it. This is a good wallet to use if you want to connect to decentralised applications. Reminder: You don't connect your investment wallet to applications and do not connect to anything via a link unless you trust its source.
